Parental Partnership
Parental partnership is promoted at the Kindergarten as staff are aware that parents are their children's first teachers, and that at the education process begins at home. A strong link with the key person, the parents and the child is paramount.
At Christchurch Kindergarten there is an open door policy and a positive attitude whereby parents can easily approach staff. Parents are made aware of the policies and procedures.
Christchurch Kindergarten liases with nearby schools to ease transition for children onto primary schools. Other professionals and multi-agencies including speech therapist, occupational therapists and special needs' advisors etc are involved to make this transition smooth for your child.
Regular consultations with parents are in order to explain health review checks and baseline assessments, depending on the stage of development their child is currently on. During these meetings, parents are given ideas on how to extend activities and interests at home, which may have been initially taught at the setting.
High Quality Learning
At Christchurch Kindergarten we place a great importance on the statutory framework of the Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS). Continuous professional development on the EYFS is mandatory for all staff, with the updated staff training then cascaded to the children.
Children develop rapidly from birth to five years old, so its important good parenting and high quality childcare are in place to enable the child to flourish. To further improve parental partnership, we hold EYFS workshops twice a year. At the workshops, we teach parents exactly what EYFS is, and how they can integrate the seven areas of learning into activities at home.
Observations
Parents can view their child's learning journeys with observations and photographic evidence any time they wish. We welcome and accommodate this for all parents.
This secured online observation system has enabled us to send via email to all respective parents, their child's observations and learning journey. It is a 360 degree observation which has contribution greatly to our robust parental partnerships held at Christchurch Kindergarten. With these observations, parents are able to view their child's next step, and work alongside the relevant key person to help achieve these goals.
